Halloween 2014

For the first time ever the boys decided they wanted to be something other than superheroes!!

This year they wanted to be scary and asked to be zombies.  I let them pick their costumes off the internet. They were so excited to scare all our family.                                                                                                                                   

                                                                                    

 

 

I put makeup on Ethan and when I got finished he couldn’t wait  to run and look in the mirror.  But at the first glimpse he got of his self in the mirror he screamed at the top of his lungs and took off running as fast as he could! He was scared to even look at his self.  I couldn’t really blame him.  Just look at this face! He did look pretty scary!

 

 

And they had lots of fun eating Aunt Miranda’s brains!!!

I think this was the best Halloween yet!

Praying Mantis

Austin came upon a praying mantis today. I would have had no idea that was what it  was, but he did.  How did he know that? Funny how things that you didn’t know your kids knew will sneak up on you! He was so proud of his discovery.  He spent two hours outside just watching it crawl around and moving it around with a stick.

                                                             

We did a quick search on the internet.  He loved that it is called a praying mantis because of how he stands when he is preying on another insect. He stands on his back legs, arms raised and mouth dropped wide open to intimidate the other insect.  We couldn’t get a good picture of it but it looks something like this:



He thought this quite funny and fell over laughing every single time our mantis decided to do this.  After waiting on daddy and brother to get home so he could show them and after quite some time trying to get him to eat a grasshopper, he took him to his favorite tree to let him go.  Every time we’ve been outside since he will run over to the tree in hopes of seeing his little friend again

Spooky Bookmark

Austin has been doing such a good job reading lately.  Me and Ethan decided to make him a spooky halloween bookmark for his Magic Treehouse books that he reads at night.

Halloween 2012

On the Beach in Destin, Florida

We spent Memorial Day on the beach. This was Ethan's first trip to the beach. We had a great time and the kids had a blast.

Ethan spent most of his time with a big bucket of water and playing in the sand. He loved it!

Austin preferred the water. His favorite thing was riding the waves with his “surfing board.” He made me call him “Super Surfer Austin” all day :-)

 
  

But Ethan soon seen how much fun his brother was having and wanted in on the action.

 

He was still a little timid.  Look at those hands.

But he soon overcame it and had alot of fun in the water!

    

Austin wiped out a few times.  He didn’t like that much :-)

 

 

He would get so excited about all the fish in the water and then have to run back to tell us about them.

  

Look at the size of this crab he found!!! I thought it might carry him away!

Ethan thought it safe to check it out from a distance, but would not touch it.

The kids got to pet a real baby alligator at Fudpucker’s. I snuck in a picture before I was told I couldn’t take any ;-)

We ate at Yogurt Mountain several times! Kids could not get enough of it!
